Once upon a time in small but booming Oklahoma community...

at the corner of 2nd & Elgin a full service gas station appeared. With amenities like hot water, pressurized air and a car wash, weary travellers on Route 66 from across the country were able to take advantage of the first 24 hour service station in Oklahoma by waking the attendent who lived upstairs in the dome.

But we's all growed up now...

Folk's are starting to take the reemergence of downtown seriously, and the Blue Dome District is becoming the hub of Tulsa's nightlife. Think Deep Ellum in Dallas, envision Austin's 6th Street and you're beginning to get very very thirsty.

These photographs of "The Continental" were taken by James Gibbard of the Tulsa World. of "The Continental" is an upscale, nonsmoking music club located on first street just east of the Blue Dome Festival and right next door to McNellie's Pub. If you haven't tried McNellie's sweet potato fries you've missed a treat.

Let see...St. Paddy, shuffleboard and friends, who you gonna call? This longtime Tulsa institution is the veritable anchor in the Blue Dome District, located right next door to own our favorite blue domed building on 2nd Street.

And just across Elgin on 2nd Street is the 1974. If you want a steak with that live music, all you gotta do is ask.

But sometimes man, you just gotta have sushi. Tsumani's serves a terrific tempura with a 2nd Street view of the downtown skyline that kicks....!
I dunno, call me crazy...but there's something pretty special about a place that serves biscuits and gravy, a black bean burger and yoga at 7:00 central standard time. I'm thinkin' that's the new "Livin' on Tulsa Time". Yup... breakfast in the Blue Dome District six days a week

Our friends from YP TULSA said it best...a new kind of energy...and it's not about the next development in the burbs or the next Walmart...it's about reclaiming the foundation of our community. This building located between Elgin and Detroit on 1st Street will be the home of the 1st Street Lofts imagined into reality by one of our favorite developers with the spirit of a true Bohemian...

The spirit of the district, art and commerce co-existing along with...

actual proof they didn't actually pave all of paradise!
